Our Program
In Barahona, Dominican Republic, youth baseball is a reflection of a broken system that leaves young athletes unprepared for life outside the game. There are 8 independently owned leagues, each operating with its own rules and vision of success. These leagues register with the city to secure practice time at one of just two available fields, but there’s no formal competition, no official games, and no tracking of vital statistics like batting averages or RBIs. For many kids, it’s an endless cycle of practice without real progress.
This fractured system offers little opportunity for growth, leaving young athletes dreaming of baseball stardom without a path to measurable success or life skills to fall back on when their baseball journey ends.
But we believe it doesn’t have to be this way.
The Commitment
The Empower Baseball program requires a compromiso or commitment from each player to stay in school as they play with our baseball team, Los Piratas del Sur. Along with their athletic training, our dedicated coaches and managers guide them to develop strategies for success in their education and career, preparing them for success both on and off the field.
While our core is baseball, we coach the importance of education and having a backup plan. Our approach extends beyond the diamond, ensuring they grow both as athletes and individuals by meeting their personal, education and professional goals.
Through education, scholarships, mentorships, and community involvement, we are cultivating a new generation of leaders, equipped to uplift their families and contribute to the broader Dominican Community.

Empower Baseball is setting the example by demanding higher standards from everyone involved, from players to coaches and leagues. We are building a future where baseball and education are intertwined, starting in Barahona and moving east toward Santo Domingo. Through structured games, official statistics tracking, and a focus on academics, we are creating a model that others will follow, reshaping the broken system from within. Our goal is to give players not just a love for the game, but the tools to succeed in life.
