Volunteer roles & remote opportunities

Volunteer Roles with Empower Baseball

This page is the “what it actually looks like” behind volunteering with us. On the field, in the classroom, or behind a laptop — pick the lane that fits your skills and your season of life.

Once you see a role or category that fits, go to our main Volunteer page and use the application form to tell us your top choices. We’ll match you from there.

Volunteer Roles You Can Fill

These are some of the core ways people serve with Empower Baseball. Time commitments are flexible — we’ll work with your schedule and location.

Coaching & Player Development

On-Field Coaching & Player Development

Help lead practices, small group drills, and position-specific work for players in Barahona. Think structure, reps, and development — not just one-off clinics.

  • Assistant coach for practices and clinics
  • Position-specific work (hitting, pitching, fielding, catching)
  • Support with basic movement, strength, and baseball IQ
Typical commitment: Trip week or 1–3 month stay (on-site)
Great for: former players, coaches, PE teachers, serious baseball parents, sports management majors.
Classroom, Tutoring & STEM

Education Support & STEM

Help players win in the classroom, not just on the field. Support reading, English, homework, and simple STEM-focused activities tied to baseball and everyday life.

  • On-site homework help and reading support
  • Online English / reading tutoring sessions
  • Simple STEM or “baseball + math” activities
Typical commitment: Trip week on-site or 1–2 hours/week remote
Great for: teachers, education majors, STEM folks, bilingual volunteers, patient listeners.
Mentoring & Leadership

Mentors & Leadership Support

Come alongside our staff to help build character, not just talent. Lead or support small group conversations, life skills discussions, and post-practice debriefs.

  • Small group huddles and debriefs
  • Life skills, leadership, and mindset discussions
  • Relational follow-up and encouragement
Typical commitment: Trip week (on-site) or ongoing touchpoints
Great for: youth leaders, mentors, pastors, small group leaders, people who care more about hearts than stats.
Media, Social & Player Highlights

Media, Social & Highlight Videos

Help tell honest stories from Barahona and get players seen. From social posts to short reels and highlight videos, you’ll help connect our work with the outside world.

  • Edit short videos and player highlight clips
  • Create simple graphics and social media content
  • Organize and share photos and stories from trips
Typical commitment: 2–4 hours per month (remote)
Great for: editors, content creators, comms/marketing majors, photographers, creative volunteers.
Scholarship & Career Support

Scholarship, Recruiting & Career Support

Help us serve the 98% who won’t sign a pro contract by researching schools, scholarships, and opportunities — and helping organize the path for our older players.

  • Research schools that fit our players academically and athletically
  • Help with basic scholarship and application info
  • Support player profiles, bios, and communication templates
Typical commitment: 2–4 hours per month (remote)
Great for: former college athletes, counselors, organized volunteers, business/education majors.
Operations, Grants & Fundraising

Behind-the-Scenes Support

Keep the mission moving behind the scenes. Help with grants, sponsorship research, basic admin, and fundraising efforts in the US and the DR.

  • Research grants, sponsors, and potential partners
  • Help with simple data entry, organization, and follow-up
  • Support campaigns, events, and equipment drives
Typical commitment: 2–4 hours per month (remote or hybrid)
Great for: detail-oriented people, business/nonprofit majors, admins, spreadsheet nerds.
What we look for

What We Ask From Volunteers

You don’t have to have the perfect résumé. We care more about how you show up than what you’ve done on paper.

  • Consistency with any schedule or trip dates you commit to
  • Respect for our staff, culture, players, and community
  • Willingness to follow our safety and safeguarding guidelines
  • Humility — you’re here to serve, not be the hero of the story
How placement works

How We Match You to a Role

You don’t need to pick perfectly. Use this page to get a sense of where you fit, then tell us your top 1–3 categories on the interest form.

  • You fill out the form on our Volunteer page
  • We review your skills, story, and availability
  • We schedule a short call to talk through questions on both sides
  • We confirm a role (or mix of roles) that actually fits you and the program

Still unsure where you fit? Reach out through our contact page and we’ll help you figure it out.

See a Category That Fits You?

The next step is simple: go to our main Volunteer page, submit the interest form, and tell us which categories and roles caught your eye. We’ll follow up personally — no auto-matching, no pressure.
